چکیده

I n electroretinography (ERG) the use of the averaging computer has become standard practice for extracting the often low responses from the background electrical noise. If, besides the response magnitude the waveform of the response is of interest to the experimenter, the averaging technique indeed is a powerful tool. There are situations however, in which the waveform of the ERG is not of primary interest, for instance for the determination of spectral sensitivity functions, or the recovery of sensitivity after exposure to a very bright light (dark adaptation

The Electroretinogram of a Diurnal Gecko

Using the electroretinogram as the criterion of retinal activity the flicker fusion frequency, course of dark adaptation, and spectral sensitivity of the pure cone retina of the diurnal gecko, Phelsuma inunguis, were investigated. Both the curve relating flicker fusion frequency to stimulus intensity and that relating the amplitude of the flicker response to stimulus intensity showed a break as...

Reexamination of spectral mechanisms in the rat (Rattus norvegicus).

The spectral mechanisms of the rat were studied in electrophysiological and behavioral experiments. The photopic electroretinogram (ERG) was recorded (a) to rapidly flickering lights, (b) during the cone phase of dark adaptation, and (c) with a flicker photometric procedure. Each procedure indicated the presence of a single cone mechanism having a lambda max of about 510 nm. Increment-threshold...

Electroretinogram Characteristics and the Spectral Mechanisms of the Median Ocellus and the Lateral Eye in Limulus polyphemus

Electrical responses (ERG) to light flashes of various wavelengths and energies were obtained from the dorsal median ocellus and lateral compound eye of Limulus under dark and chromatic light adaptation. Spectral mechanisms were studied by analyzing (a) response waveforms, e.g. response area, rise, and fall times as functions of amplitude, (b) slopes of amplitude-energy functions, and (c) spect...

Spectral Sensitivity of the Common Prawn, Palaemonetes vulgaris

The vision of Palaemonetes is of particular interest in view of extensive studies of the responses of its chromatophore systems and eye pigments to light. The spectral sensitivity is here examined under conditions of dark adaptation and adaptation to bright colored lights. In each case the relative number of photons per one-fiftieth sec flash needed to evoke a constant peak amplitude (usually 2...

Adaptation and Psychometric Properties of the visceral sensitivity index (VSI)

The visceral sensitivity index (VSI) is a useful self-report measure of the gastrointestinal symptom-specific anxiety (GSA) of patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Previous research has shown that GSA is an important endpoint for intervention. However, there is currently no Iranian version of the VSI. In the present study, translated the VSI into Persian and verified its reliability an...
